Creekside and Jesus feeds the 5,000... WHAT?

First off, sorry friends for being lame and taking forever to update you on my time at Washington Family Ranch - Creekside... You know, a mere 12 days ago. (Super lame!)

Needless to say, my final trip to Creekside was an overwhelming success. I got to partner up with my rock star, WyldLife team leader Ali because she was a first time leader (because she met Jesus at Canyon the summer before) and had 10 girls in her cabin. You read that correctly, TEN! I told you she was a rock star! Anyways, I barely knew any of the girls in the cabin; and by "barely" I mean I maybe talked to them casually one time. MAYBE.

Anyways, as it was my third camp trip that summer and after an especially exhausting trip to Malibu, in all the best ways, of course. With that information, you could imagine how excited I was to go "all out" for the third time this summer. But isn't it funny how God uses the very little you have to give, whether you've been on three camp trips or it's your first one, to perform miracles?  Reminds me of the story in the book of Mark where Jesus feeds the 5,000 (and that's not counting women and children, so we are talking probably double that in reality).  The disciples are like, "Jesus, how the heck are we gonna feed this many people with the amount of food we have?!" and Jesus says, "How much do we have?" - I think this question is super important and here's why, HEL-LO this is Jesus talking! He knows how much bread and fish these guys have. He's just proving a point and making them say it, in my opinion - and they respond, "we only have five loaves of bread and two fish." Then I imagine Jesus being like "Yeah? Well watch this! Bring 'em over!" (except probably not so prideful) anyways, if you don't know how this ends He thanks God for it and breaks the loaves and the disciples end up have 12 baskets of left-over bread! Here's why I think Jesus' question and making the disciples say how little they had was important: we ALL have little to give when we think about how many people there are to take care of. Spiritually speaking, for my cabin of 10 girls plus Ali, I had maybe a piece of bread. But here's the thing, we thank God for that little piece of bread that we have and He (notice HE, not we) uses it to perform miracles. It's humbling and beautiful. That's what happens when Jesus steps in: miracles happen.

And that, my friends, is exactly what happened in our cabin at Creekside.  Walls were broken down and I've built amazing relationships with the girls who will be freshmen at McMinnville High School this fall! I'm blessed that I get to walk with them through this rough transition already.

Thank you Jesus that you take the little I have to give and work miracles for Your Kingdom. I pray you would keep taking my single piece of bread and that you would feed thousands in your name.

xoxo
