My favorite week at Malibu was when I met Christ until...
... I got to take my very own cabin of girls.
If you've ever met me in real life, you know there's one thing I talk about almost incessantly (as it is the greatest place on Earth), and that is Malibu Club in British Columbia. The place where it all began for me. The place where I have experienced memories I will undoubtedly never forget. This past trip was no exception!
I got to take 8 of my closest high school friends to Malibu for their first real experience at a Young Life camp ever; and they couldn't have asked for a better first camp. In my humble opinion. ;) Before we left for camp, my area director asked all of us leaders to find 10 people to pray for us at camp. I had well over 25 on the Malibu trip because The Lord has blessed me with an amazing community of people in my life that are more than willing to sacrifice some time for a week to pray for my campers and myself. Thank you all, you know who you are! Needless to say, with that many people praying it was felt in major ways. The best way to describe our week there was unreal.
The program team was hilarious and included one of my favorite area directors ever, Loran Zenonian. The camp musician was interestingly enough my first camp musician the amazingly talented, Mark Wagner. And the speaker, Lily was just great with the kids and obviously relentless in prayer. It was an assignment team set up for success, but it was (obviously) what Jesus did through His Holy Spirit that was the most amazing part.
Before I left, I gave a list of the girl's names to my prayer warriors because I am a firm believer that praying specifically is powerful. It was incredible how powerful telling the girls that they were being prayed for by people who didn't even know them! Walls guarding some very hurt hearts in my cabin broke down insanely fast. Every one of my girls encountered Christ is a very real way and 7 of my 8 girls gave their lives to Christ for the first time and the 8th girl rededicated her life. I've never been a witness to anything more moving than that. My cabin bonded, big time! Girls who never thought they'd have common ground found themselves hugging and crying with each other after a solid heart to heart. Burdens were lifted and lives were changed at Malibu. Many of them in the same exact place my life was changed on July 3rd, 2010.
I was reminded that God could save lives all by Himself any time He wanted to, but that He has asked me to play apart in it for these girls. What a immeasurable blessing and gift that He has called me to do this work. Like, this just proves that He uses anyone with a willing heart to further the Kingdom.
I leave on another camp trip TOMORROW, do you want to be on my prayer team!? Let me know!
Thankful for all of you!
xoxo
